Privacy Policy

What Massell collects, why it needs it, what other people can see, who helps us run the service and the control you keep over your data.

Last updated 17 October 2026

No ads, no tracking

Massell uses no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind, in the app or on the web.

Private by default

Your workouts and history stay yours. Others see a program only if you publish or share it.

Yours to delete

Delete your account from Account, on iPhone or on the web: your data goes with it.

01

Who we are

Massell (the iOS app, the Apple Watch app and the web app) is run by Samuel Adorni, an individual developer based in Italy, who is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at support@astrall.app.

02

What we collect

  • Account data: your email address, your name and your password (stored only as a hash by our authentication provider). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the name and email address the provider shares.
  • Profile: name, @username, profile photo, accent colour, appearance and weight unit.
  • Training data: the exercises you create, your WODs and programs, the trainings you save (exercises, sets, loads, reps, times, rests, duration and notes) and the programs you import.
  • Social: the people you follow, your reactions to public programs, and the email addresses you invite to a program you share with selected people.
  • Moderation: the people you block and the reports you send (the program or person reported and the reason).

Massell uses no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.

03

Cookies and local storage

The website uses no cookies. It keeps only what it needs to work in your browser's local storage: your sign-in session, your preferences (such as the sidebar state and whether you have seen the guided tour) and a local copy of your data so pages load quickly. Nothing is used for analytics, advertising or tracking, and fonts are served from our own site.

04

What other people can see

Your programs, WODs and trainings are private. Other people see something only when you choose to share it:

  • Public programs appear in Discover with their WODs, your name, @username and photo, the reactions and the number of imports.
  • Programs shared with a code or with selected people can be opened by whoever has the code or was invited.
  • Your public profile shows your name, @username, photo, your public programs and how many followers and people you follow.

People who import one of your programs keep their own copy, with your name as its author, even if you later make it private or delete your account.

05

Coaches and progress sharing

When you import a program whose author tracks progress, you can turn on Share my progress. Only then the author sees your name, your email address and the trainings you do on that program's WODs, nothing else. It is off by default and you can turn it off at any time from the program or from Account; the author stops seeing your trainings right away.

06

Apple Watch and Health

The iPhone sends your WODs, exercise names and last results to the Massell app on your Apple Watch, and the workout in progress travels between the two. This happens directly between your devices.

If you allow it, the watch saves your strength workouts to Apple Health and reads heart rate and active energy while you train. On iPhone, a workout in progress runs as an Apple Health strength workout, so the rest timer can ring with the phone locked, and it is saved to Apple Health when you save the training. Health data stays in Apple Health: Massell does not upload it to our servers.

07

Why we use your data

  • to provide the service: your account, your training data synced across iPhone, Apple Watch and the web, Discover and sharing (performance of a contract)
  • to keep the service secure and prevent abuse (legitimate interest)
  • to share your progress with a coach and to read and write Health data, only if you turn them on (consent, which you can withdraw at any time)

08

Who processes it for us

  • Supabase: database, authentication and profile photo storage
  • Vercel: hosting of the web app
  • Apple and Google: sign-in, only if you choose them

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Union. In that case the transfer is covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

09

On your device

The iPhone app keeps a copy of your data on the device so it works offline, and your login session in the iOS Keychain. A small diagnostic log of the rest timer stays on the device and leaves it only if you copy it and send it to us. The camera is used only to scan the QR code of a program someone shares with you: the image is processed on the device and is never stored or sent anywhere. On the web, your session and a few display preferences are kept in your browser's storage.

10

How long we keep it

Your data is kept until you delete it or delete your account. Deleting a WOD, program or training removes it from the service. Logging out removes your data from that iPhone; it stays in your account.

11

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, to restrict or object to its use, and withdraw your consent at any time.

To delete your account and all its data, use Account > Delete account in the app or on the web. Your public programs are unpublished; copies already imported by other people stay with them. You can also write to support@astrall.app from the email address of the account.

You can also lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, garanteprivacy.it).

12

Children

Massell is not meant for children under 14 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

13

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page and, for important changes, tell you in the app. See also the Terms of Service.
